Season's End
01:42
|
|||
Let’s see, a problem within
You feel uncomfortable within your own skin
So come here, child of winter
Spring is coming and you know you’re gonna splinter
But oh
Well now, a scene without
You’re feeling trapped and you want a way out
So get in, child of summer
Autumn’s here and you know that that’s a bummer
But oh
Okay, you’re moving sideways
The air is damp and it’s blocking your airways
Summer’s about to pop its lid
And that’s the end of a springtime kid
But oh
Okay, you’re feeling down
Your time is up and you’re turning brown
Snow falls, silent as the grave
No more of the autumn babe
But oh

Az Yashir
02:20
|
|||
She comes a-dancing from the city
Holding a timbrel in her hand
She laughs as loud as any other
Isn’t the whole affair just grand
Oh, az yashir
Oh, az yashir
Nachshon is waist-deep in the water
He flashes back a foolish grin
He won’t be outshone by his brother
Won’t hide his ecstasy within
Oh, az yashir
Oh, az yashir
It seems the king isn’t so happy
One thousand’s so much less than ten
“I’ll send him off to fetch a dowry
No one can love the young man then”
Oh, az yashir
Oh, az yashir
And when at last they came to Mara
They couldn’t bear the bitter drink
“So let’s continue on to Elim
Things will be better there I think”
Oh, az yashir
Oh, az yashir
Oh, az yashir
Oh, az yashir

To Quiet
02:52
|
|||
An autumn sun on a greying field
A dusty dun, a will to yield
Wind carrying nothing
Blows down the line
And in the silence
A weary sigh
A yellow light, a candle's flame
No tears tonight, no fears to tame
Snow on the roof tiles
Silent and gray
Out of the stillness
Another way
A moonlit sky and a ragged band
A tearful eye, a heavy hand
Soft lapping water
Just out of sight
And in the darkness
Pinpoints of light
A thoughtful smile at a proffered arm
A quiet word, an easy charm
Clear peals of laughter
Ring in the air
In the confusion
Forgotten care

Gets Me High
02:45
|
|||
Oh Mr. Daniels
I don’t think I need you anymore
I’ve found a lover sharper than the whiskey that you used to pour
Out for me
Out for me
Oh gin and tonic
You were really good friends of mine
Now I’ve got a honey who seems to take up all my time
But that’s okay
Y’all were getting boring anyway
And I want you to know
You won’t paint my cheeks with your afterglow
And I’ll keep you and the nicotine stored
Safely in the cabinet and out of my routine
Found me a baby so sober and true
I can’t believe I ever needed you
To get me high
‘Cos my babe gets me high
Oh captain
Oh captain Morgan
I’m afraid your ship has docked for good and I hope it’s understood
You won’t be setting sail down my throat
Listen here
Listen here doubting Thomas
Don’t you think you have to listen to the empty promises that
Alcohol gives you
Because one day
You’ll find a lovely lady
Who can make you smile, get you high and make you think maybe
You could pour it out for them
I could pour it out for them
And I want you to know
You won’t paint my cheeks with your afterglow
And I’ll keep you and the nicotine stored
Safely in the cabinet and out of my routine
Found me a baby so sober and true
I can’t believe I ever needed you
To get me high
‘Cos my babe gets me high
To get me high
‘Cos my love gets me high

Thus Spake Zarahemla
03:35
|
|||
Spare me a space at the spearhead
The sparsest of spots if you please
It’s sparseness and splendor
That fill me with sparks
And speak to me when I’m on my knees
Spinsters, they spit at the speechless
Spasmodically spearing in spite
In spite of specifically spurious claims
About spellings that clearly aren’t right
The spider is sprightly but specious
Spinning the specter just so
He splits the spiritual spectacles right
But his specialty’s to speak on the go
The spouts sprout this rubbish, suspicious
The spewers they spiral and spin
They’re spaced in a sprawl
The spiel lasts all fall
But the spectators suspect that you’ll win
The sparrow spends his spoons in the springtime
So spare me specific concerns
A sport felt especially
Betwixt spleen and spine
That which spawns that which specialists spurn

Wraith on the Moor
03:16
|
|||
I don’t know about a wraith out on the moor
But you can feel a ghost in this place for sure
When the sun goes down, the wights come out to feed
I wouldn’t stick around unless it’s Satan you wanna meet
Spirits get restless on cloudless nights like these
And from the darkness you hear a blood-curdling scream
It’s awful easy to feel safe when the sun is high
But late at night when the world of ghosts is nigh
There’s nothing safe about the comfort of candlelight
Leave it burning; it’s like a beacon into the night
Congratulations no one makes it out alive
There’s more than death to fear, worse than the worst that you can contrive

Love Is Strange
05:11
|
|||
One mind is hopeless, less chance for two
Just give them hell, we may as well
There's little else to do
I just seem doleful, I'm not so blue
I'll never tell, you know darn well
I expect no less of you
Doing all that we can at this range
Howling, love is strange
Proffer chastisement, and follow through
I'll ring the bell, you cast the spell
We'll bid the works adieu
Offering peace and friendship in exchange
Saying “love is strange”
In fortune's favor, we find a few
You're in a cell, my red blood cell
I swear it's true
Hands clasped tightly, we swear we'll never change
Because love is strange
Suffer it nightly, twixt morning dews
You leave your shell watch my heart swell
A bird's eye view
Shaking hands with all those we've estranged
Laughing “love is strange”
Forgotten firstlings, that offered ewe
We bid farewell to sweet Bethel
That home we knew
Pronouncing words in a pattern prearranged
Pretending love is strange

The Path You Set
03:16
|
|||
Travelling on the path that you set
Guided by those that I haven’t met yet
Try to be everything they could need
You and I
Could never lie
So try to believe what I’m saying
In this world, all on our own
Your life and mine through our weakness on loan
Think ahead to those mouths we must feed
You and I
Could never lie
So try to believe what I’m saying
For your life, I’ll give you mine
And for your hopes, well I’ll give you time
The wait’s the only thing killing us now
I won’t forget my promises to you
When you’re on your knees, done all you can do
The waters at your neck and the rain’s coming in
But you and I
Could never lie
So try to believe what I’m saying
Set our sights on the shoreline ahead
But towering waves ever fill us with dread
The rocks and the shoals, see they threaten the bow

Shall I Compare Thee...
02:09
|
|||
Black and white, there's your heart and then there's mine
Crimson and blue there's none of me inside of you
But come summer your cheeks were awful rosy
Green and grey, I don't know what I'm to say
Winter grew cold
Eyes of silver and of gold
But your hair was just as long as when I met you
Yellow white, well it seems that you were right
Brown and green, sure our hearts were squeaky clean
But our hands were red with autumn time we wasted
Pink impressed, I forget about the rest
Violet hue, well it seems you never knew
That your eyes were changing colors as you told me
Season of rest
Weight off your chest
Leave all the rest
Season's End

[Exeunt]
01:17
|

So, it’s been good
Stay as you would
Hey, it’s fine
Who knows how long we’ll pine?
Farewell, farewell
